Cong. Flake’s Lame Excuse for Voting for ENDA

Cong. Jeff Flake (R-Arizona) has basically admitted that he is ashamed of supporting conservative causes. Last month, Flake shocked his conservative district constituents by casting an unconscionable vote in support of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. ENDA represents the latest effort by homosexual pressure groups to make incremental gains in eroding the freedom to oppose the homosexual agenda. ENDA rests on the fallacy that one’s chosen sexual habits subject them to “civil rights discrimination” and that legislation is needed to protect them.

More recently, Flake acknowledged that the reason he voted with the leftists in Congress supporting homosexual interest groups. He said that the opposition congressmen were hateful in expressing their opposition to the bill, so he voted with the leftists in support of the controversial bill. Flake may appease some people with that claim, but the Congressional Record provides us with all of the testimony opposing ENDA, which we have reviewed and found impressive on merits.

In reviewing the Congressional Record, the opponents of ENDA deserve credit for contributing reasoned, thoughtful and intelligent remarks. Flake has been known to grasp at straws before, and he is clearly reaching on ENDA in an attempt to justify an unjustifiable vote.

Flake has already angered many Americans with his support of amnesty in the form of guest worker programs. Now he has two major strikes against him – and two formidable opponents in next year’s Republican primary. Arizona State Representative Russell Pearce is exploring a primary challenge to Flake, and many would welcome a change. Pearce would make an excellent replacement for Flake in Congress, and we can count on him to oppose the radical homosexual agenda and consistently oppose bills like ENDA.

I am running opposed for the Democratic nomination for Congress from the district represented by Jeff Flake, and I commend him on avoiding the bigotry of people like you and Russell Pearce -- against immigrants, against gay and lesbian Americans, against people who are "different." On the other hand, it is heartwarming for a Democrat to know that you are alienating groups of people -- many Hispanics and gays, for example -- who otherwise might be attracted to much of the conservative agenda.

Flake understands that young people are multicultural, favor gay marriage (and even people of any age oppose job discrimination against gay and lesiban people), and hate the intolerance you represent.

Unlike Jeff Flake and people like him (including on some issues like immigration, President Bush), people like you are putting the Republican party out of business.

No wonder fewer and fewer people are registering and identifying as members of your party. You represent the past and you are a dinosaur.

Richard, you are a bigot. Russell Pearce is not a bigot for protecting the resources of the State of Arizona and the private citizens who have suffered at the hands of lawbreaking border invaders (try rape, assault, home invasions and more). Kudos to him. These invaders are of all different races, by the way. Most Hispanic Americans also support those of you who want the laws enforced so that illegals don't budge in line ahead of those who properly filled out proper immigration forms to come here legally and obey the laws. You Democrats do not even know the definition of the word "bigotry." When hate crime and homosexual agenda laws come into play, they are guilty of reverse discrimination. No one has a "civil rights" claim for the manner in which they choose to have sexual relations. Flake is more than welcome to join your party in the moral abyss. You liberal lefties have cornered the market on intolerance and hatred. Congratulations. If what you represent is the future, then this country will cease to exist as it is in a few more decades. Perhaps you would be happier in Venezuela or China. If you would like Jeff Flake on your side, go ahead and take him ... please.
